Writing a Job Interview Request Letter [Free Samples]

When looking for a new job, a person may need to send their resumes to a number of different employers. A job interview request letter should be included with the application to help the person stand out from the crowd.

This allows the applicant to demonstrate genuine interest in the position while also emphasizing how they would assist the firm or institution. The applicant is asking the recruiting manager to take action by seeking an interview.

rude or pushy to request an interview

It is not rude or pushy to request an interview. The majority of hiring managers will value an applicant who is self-assured enough to make the request.

A customized job interview request should be sent to each employer to whom a job application is sent. The letter should not look like it was copied from a template and should include some comments that are relevant to the job.

demonstrate knowledge of the organization

It should, for example, exhibit understanding about the organization and briefly highlight how the applicant’s experience and qualifications are a good match for the company.

For hiring purposes, the letter should be addressed to the appropriate person. It is not appropriate to address it to Sir or Madam. If the candidate is unsure who to address the letter to, he or she should contact the company or institution and ask for the hiring manager’s name. This also indicates initiative on the part of the candidate.

The following suggestion should be considered when writing the letter:

  • The applicant should use confident language while being polite and respectful.
  • The letter may elaborate on the applicant’s relevant qualifications that are listed in the resume that match the specific job.
  • The job that is being sought should be specified with a few comments that show the employer that the applicant understands the job.
  • The applicant should directly request an interview.
  • The applicant’s contact information should be easy to see.
  • The applicant should thank the employer for taking the time to consider the applicant’s request.

show some personality

The hiring manager or employer is hiring a person with a personality that will hopefully fit into the company’s culture. The job interview request letter is an opportunity for the candidate to show some personality and give their application a more personal touch.

After the company receives the job interview request letter, the applicant can phone to follow up one to two weeks later. They should include their name and the job for which they applied, as well as a polite request for an interview.

Here are some examples of letters requesting a job interview. It should be delivered certified mail so that the applicant knows it received.
